Mo Rocca

Mo Rocca said while playing Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me that he hated wearing home made sweaters - They made him feel itchy.

Well, the folks from Berroco are knitting him a great sweater.

Their post about this can be found here.

MuseSusan craft groupie's Jasper Fforde

From MuseSusan:
I knitted a stuffed dodo bird for Jasper Fforde, my favorite author.

Last year when his most recent book, First Among Sequels, came out, I realized I could make it to his talk and book-signing in New York City, so I decided I would knit him something.

In the series main character Thursday Next has a pet dodo named Pickwick that she cloned using an early version of the dodo home cloning kit (before they had sequenced the wings). In the latest book, Pickwick has lost most of her feathers in a fight with the neighbor’s cat, and throughout the book Thursday spends her down time knitting a dodo sweater in blue and white (and possibly a nice black, sparkly off-the-shoulder one for parties). So I decided to knit Jasper a stuffed Pickwick, from a pattern I made up as I went along.

Since I got the idea about a week before the signing, I just barely finished the dodo sweater at the bookstore before the talk started (talk about last minute!) and gave it to Jasper when he signed my book. He was delighted (although he did ask about the black off-the-shoulder one).

moiraeknittoo craft groupie's Michael Rosenbaum

From moiraeknittoo:

Michael Rosenbaum AKA Lex Luthor of the WB/CW’s Smallville. I knit him a hat many many moons ago, and gave it to him during one of his appearances at the yearly Ronald McDonald House Charities Microsoft Hockey Challenge here in Seattle.

I gave the bag with the hat and a couple of other things in it to one of the helpful staff people during the break between 2nd & 3rd periods, went to the bathroom and when I got back to my seat, he burst out of the locker room and onto the ice wearing the hat and making very excited gestures. It was hilarious, especially as the person I was with started WHOOPING with glee and pointing at me (I was doing my best to become invisible) and waving her arms and we had a strange and bizarre exchange that was funny and, well, funny and I’m glad he liked it. Or at least acted like he liked it. :D

I thought it’d be hard for a guy with no hair to shoot eps in Vancouver, BC during the winter, so I made him a very woolly hat and hope it helped during those hours he wasn’t on set.

Why yes, I AM a total dork. :D

I should mention that this was like the second or third thing I think I ever really knit. It’s not the most fabulous hat ever, but I enjoyed working with the handspun I believe I bought off of eBay from someone in either Michigan or Wisconsin.

Wil Wheaton knows. . .

about the whole knitting subculture. He has also mentioned that if he did knit, he'd knit the binary scarf and the space invader socks.

So, there's a call to some craft groupie! If you do, please share your story!

Here's a cute blog entry about the Knitsmith's run in with Wil.

The Infamous Clown Sweater

Someone presented Wil Wheaton with a clown sweater. It's a great story.
